If you have any questions about Cervical Laminoplasty or spine surgery, please call or visit our office or your primary/referring physician. This patient information is not a replacement for in-person professional medical advice.

General overview

Laminoplasty is a treatment option for cervical spinal stenosis and/or cervical myelopathy. In this procedure, the bony roof of the spinal canal is raised off of the spinal cord and fixed into a new position that creates more room for the spinal cord. It is analogous to adding an addition to your home in order to increase its square footage!

Laminoplasty is a motion sparing alternative to traditional fusion techniques, but it’s not appropriate in all cases. Whether its right for you will depend on the specific anatomy of your spine as well as your symptoms. In either case, Dr. Bennett will be happy to discuss your diagnosis as well as the treatment options specific to your case.
